Dr. Marisela Rodriguez, PhD, is an R&D portfolio strategist with 25+ years of exploration in infectious diseases. At BioNTech in Mainz, Germany, she played a pivotal role in expanding their infectious disease R&D program management team focused on global health threats, including HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Before BioNTech, she contributed to global health initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the USA Department of Agriculture (USDA), where she played a critical role in influenza research and vaccine strain selection.
With a distinguished career spanning academic, government, and pharmaceutical sectors, Dr. Rodriguez has remained at the cutting-edge of infectious disease research and vaccine development. Currently, she is focused on sharing her knowledge and expertise in drug development strategy with early-stage drug innovators. Dr. Rodriguez received her undergraduate degree from Salem International University (Salem, WV, USA) and her PhD in Microbiology from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA, USA). She completed her postdoc in antiviral immunity at Washington University Medical School in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. Marisela is currently based in Frankfurt, Germany.
